A Challenging Project

Sharing My Work with Others

I have always been intrigued by the subject of this project, and wanted to explore it further. Taking on the task to create a documentary about preserving heritage, gave me the opportunity to conduct serious research and produce high-quality work.

The process

Thank you for stopping by my project website. It all started when my Grandmother told me a story. A story that created my interest in heritage, culture and native language.

Responses from survey

Hearing your voice

#1

Ethnicity: Caucasian & Italian

Question: What does culture mean to you?
Response: My Italian culture means a lot to me. It means preserving the ways my ancestors used to do things like cooking, baking and celebrating. It means embracing where you’re from and everything else that comes with it.

#2

Ethnicity: Pakistani

Question: Why do you think it's important to have a diverse community/world?
Response: I think it is inevitable that we have a diverse world. There will always be different cultures and ethnicities depending on what country you are in. It is important to be aware of the differences and not be ignorant.

#3

Ethnicity: Karen

Question: Please share your cultural background.

Response: I am originally from Myanmar. Most people who live in Karen States are farmers. Most of them are uneducated and many people escape from civil war. We weave our own clothes using cotton/ thread. Additionally, children must respect older people and we don't usually make eyes contact with them while we are talking, which is very different from American culture.
